  • In MA, medical marijuanas card costs vary. Here’s a quick breakdown:

    • $120 for New Patient Medical Card evaluation

    • $99 for a Renewing Patient Medical Card Evaluation

    • FREE to register with the state to become a medical patient.

  • In Massachusetts, patients have access to a diverse range of medical marijuana products:

    Flower: The classic form of cannabis, consisting of the plant's dried buds, used for smoking or vaporization.

    Concentrates: High-potency extracts from the cannabis plant, available in forms like oil, wax, and shatter.

    Edible Products: Foods infused with cannabis, such as gummies, brownies, cookies, or chocolates, offer an alternative to inhalation. Tincture Extracts: Liquid extracts of cannabis, usually administered sublingually (under the tongue), offering a smokeless option

  • Massachusetts has many conditions that qualify for medical card. Here is a list, from their website:Cancer
    Glaucoma
    HIV/AIDS

    Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS)
    Crohn’s disease

    Multiple sclerosis (MS)

  • You may designate up to two Personal Caregivers

  • Massachusetts does not accept medical cards from other states but does allow out-of-state MMJ cardholders to possess up to 1 ounce of cannabis

  • In addition to learning the process for how to get a medical marijuanas card, MA residents often want to know the general timeline. The process of obtaining a medical marijuana card in MA including the evaluation of your qualified patient application, can take up to 30 business days. After a patient or caregiver has completed the application process, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the plastic medical marijuana identification card to be delivered. After registration, the patient or caregiver will be able to download a temporary paper MMIC from the online system that is valid for four weeks.

  • In Massachusetts, medical marijuana cards are valid for a year and must be renewed every year. 

  • While Massachusetts has its own medical marijuana program, some states do recognize out-of-state medical cards. However, it's important to note that each state has its own set of qualifying conditions and regulations around medical and recreational cannabis. In certain states, you might need to apply for a local medical card to purchase medical cannabis from a dispensary. Always check the specific medical marijuana laws of the state you're visiting.
